A Path to Personal Revival in the Christian Life
74Every christian has experienced a time in life when the thrill of being a christian seems lost. There are many causes and it must be dealt with in a godly manner. I have a ten step process to provide renewal in your christian life. It is a way to get back to the basics. It is almost like starting over as a new christian. If you remember that new christian feel, i am sure you would like to have it all the time. Follow these steps and you will get it back. You could call it christian boot camp.
Step one is to begin daily bible reading. We make time for a lot of things in our lives. There is no reason to not be able to schedule a period of daily bible reading. It does not have to be a long time. just spend some time in Gods word everyday. This will help keep your spirit receptive to God and his will for you.
The second step is to pray more. The strength of your prayer life will show you the strength of your relationship with God. Christians are blessed with the ability to talk to God. We can take our needs and burdens to him. If the only benefit of being a christian was prayer it would be worth it. Make time for prayer and your spirit will be revived.
Step three is to find a bible believing and preaching church. A good church service will set the pace for your week. Spending time in worship with godly people will help bring back that feeling of peace with God. The first three steps have been pretty easy. It starts getting a little harder and requires more of a commitment.
The fourth step involves developing a personal ministry. It is a step toward using your faith to impact the lives of others. Your personal ministry may be simple. God will use you if you make yourself available to him.
Step five is perhaps the most difficult. It is deciding to live a morally pure life. A morally pure lifestyle will result in some ridicule for you and some of it may come from other Christians. We let things into our lives every day that we shouldn't. The moral problems in the United States are a direct result of Christians drifting toward a worldly lifestyle. If you follow the first three steps you will become burdened about things in your life. The christian community in America will either lead or follow. I hope we choose to lead.
The sixth step is telling others about Christ. There is nothing more fulfilling in life than winning someone to Christ. We are obligated to share our faith. There is one way to heaven and God commands us to tell others about it.
Step seven involves making a financial commitment to God. We are called to financially support Gods work. Jacob pledged to give 10% to God and that is a good starting point. you will never make a better investment than in helping finance the work of Gods servants. Make sure you are giving your money to organizations that are using it right. There are many groups that misuse money that was given to be used for Gods work.
The eighth step is helping your family grow spiritually. Strong families are the key to success for America and for Christians. Be a leader for God in your family. Help other in your family to get on this path of personal revival
Step nine has two parts. The first part is to become thankful. we all have things to be thankful for if we will just look for them. If I had nothing else to be thankful for, I have salvation. You will handle life better if you have a thankful spirit. The second part is to be forgiving. If God can forgive us for our sins then we can forgive others for the things they do to us. One of the key ways to show you are a christian is the ability to forgive.
The last step is to work on your spiritual legacy. What are you leaving behind on earth after your gone? What will you be remembered for? I hope someday I will be remembered as a godly man. I also hope I leave a family grounded in faith and serving God. Look at the legacy you have built and see if it needs to be changed.
Living a godly life is not easy. I don't know of an example of it in the bible. A godly life is something we have to work at. It is a lifelong journey. I have heard a pastor say that the christian life is a marathon not a sprint. The older I get, the more sense that makes. We are in a spiritual war with Satan. There is a real Satan. He attack is aimed at Christians. We are his enemy and he will try to defeat us at every turn. Follow the steps above and see the difference it will make in your life.
