66

By cpr

The 1998 Bowman Chrome Football set includes the rookie card of Peyton Manning. Peyton has become one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. This article will review the selling price of his rookie cards from the Bowman Chrome set on EBay. The period covered is from February 6, 2010 to February 21, 2010. All prices include shipping. The pricing comes from auction and fixed price listings from the stated time period.

Ungraded

Ungraded cards were the most commonly sold during the period. Thirty-eight ungraded cards were sold. The price range was between $8.50 and $31.57. The average selling price was $22.66. The price dropped slightly after the Colts Super Bowl loss. The price has since rebounded.

 PSA Graded

Two grades of PSA cards were sold during the period. Fours PSA9's were sold. They traded between $19.13 and $44.50. Three of these cards could have been purchased for about the same price as an ungraded copy. Ten PSA10's were sold. The price range was between $78.59 and $108.50. The Colts Super Bowl loss seems to have had a impact on the selling price of these cards. The lowest selling price for a PSA10 before the Super Bowl was $105.49. Only one of the four sold after the game brought more than $80. It looks like PSA10's are a bargain right now.

Beckett Graded

Beckett graded cards were sold at four grades. The grades were 8, 8.5, 9 and 9.5. One BGS8 sold for $13.98. Four 8.5's sold. The range was $17.55 to $29.21. Nine BGS9's sold. The range for these cards was $19.49 to $31.95. Five BGS9.5's sold. The price range was $44 to $90. Two of the five sold for less than $50.

Summary

Ungraded cards recovered from their post Super Bowl drop. However, you can buy a PSA9 or a BGS9 for about the same price as an ungraded card. There are bargains to be found on PSA10 and BGS9.5. My advice to buyers is to be patient and find a bargain. My advice to sellers is make sure you get a good scan and make sure your listing heading is right.
