The Bible and absolute truth
72“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12KJV. These words were written around three thousand years ago. The meaning has never been more applicable than to our current times. This verse could easily have been written today. We have access to more knowledge than at any time in human history. However, we seem to be lacking in wisdom. The Bible provides that wisdom. We have heard that we have to live our lives the best we can. I have heard many people say that they try to do what they think is right. That is where the problem arises. One of the purposes of the Bible is as a guide for living. In its words we find the basic principles for living a life in harmony with God. Much of the world rejects these words and sadly many that proclaim to be Christians reject it as well.
There are two ways to look at the world, a biblical view and a non biblical. The world does not want to hear that. Acceptance of this requires a belief in absolute truth. Absolute truth forces us to acknowledge that some of our actions are wrong. That is an unpopular belief in our modern society. Many consider the belief in absolute truth to be narrow minded and intolerant. They live their lives like the first half of Proverbs 14:12. Each person does what seems right to them. That philosophy is what divides us today. The Bible is a clear guide about right and wrong. We can not expect the world to except that. However, it is sad to see Christians not accept it. The church of today spends to much time trying to fit in with the world. Compromising with the world has become the norm. The church is starting to go down the path of what seems right. It should be on the path of spreading Gods truth to a world that needs it.
Many like to point out the mistakes that have been made by people of the church. Those mistakes are made by people that are following their own way and not Gods. Human nature leads us down our own way. The study of the Bible, prayer and the leading of the holy spirit take us the right way. Christians are called to be obedient to God. God provides us with human leadership in the form of pastors, elders, teachers and others. That leadership should only be followed when they adhere to godly principles. God will never lead us wrong but men claiming to be godly can. The truth is in the Bible. Many times the church only speaks out against wrong until it becomes socially acceptable.
Two modern social issues that prove this are abortion and homosexuality. The Bible clearly speaks against murder and the shedding of innocent blood. Abortion is both. There is no biblical justification for a Christian to support abortion. The same can be said for homosexuality. In both case you must separate the sin from the sinner. God hates sin but he loves sinners. Christians must love all sinners and help lead them away from their sin. The Christian church is slowly abandoning Gods view on these two issues and many more. These are two issues that the church needs to reflect on in the light of Gods word and stick with what is right. I expect to get negative comments about this paragraph but it is Gods truth and not mine. My opinion is of no value on morality compared to that of God.
I know there are many that scoff at the idea of absolute truth. They believe that we are free to do as we please as long as we don’t hurt anybody else. That is in direct contradiction to the will of God. God clearly defines right and wrong in the Bible. Many will say they do not believe that . My response is that the very God you reject gave you the right to reject him. Each of us has the choice to accept or reject him. He will not force himself on anyone. God gave us a compass to guide us through life. That compass is the Bible. It shows us how to live our lives n earth and how to prepare ourselves for the afterlife. The choice is yours.
If you are already a Christian make sure you are living your life God’s way. Make sure your church is a bible believing and bible teaching one. Study the word yourself so you will know biblical right and wrong. Many churches are compromising right and wrong. Those churches will grow because they attract people that want a feel good message. They want to go to church and not be troubled with salvation and sin. If you are in one of these churches get out as fast as you can. Find a church that believes the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. A church that believes in the virgin birth of Christ and his resurrection from the grave. One that believes the only way to heaven is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ . Study the word and pray. Don’t follow a path that seems right to you. Follow a path the is right according to God.

Bless your heart brother. If u really mean what u say.. I will meet u in heaven.. Very soon..
A quick couple of comments...you are right! The bible does in fact say that homosexuality is wrong. It also tells us not to eat bacon, wear certain materials together in our clothing and to stone our nonvirgin brides (who wants to put their own daughter first?). The bible says we can own slaves and that divorced people who remarry will not get into heaven. And these are just the tip. Do you believe all of this as well?
And about homosexuality as a choice...for some, yes. I know a woman who, because of abuse, grew up not trusting men. She finds comfort and happiness with other women. I know a man who was showing evidence at TWO YEARS OLD that he would be gay and he grew up in a normal, healthy household, loving Christian family, etc. I KNOW THESE POEPLE. He was born gay and might I say, God knew this when he was in the womb.
And even if a homosexual decides to surpress his or her behavior and does not have sex with the same gender, that person is no less gay.
Let's be fair-if you want to use the bible to preach about right and wrong-use it ALL, not just the parts that support your purpose. And how about preaching a little love sometimes-that was God's idea as well. :)
